Ingredients
Scale
1 lb ground beef (or turkey or veggie crumbles)
2 medium onions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup beef broth
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 hamburger buns
1 cup shredded Swiss or provolone cheese
Instructions
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté for about 10-12 minutes until caramelized.
Once the onions are caramelized, stir in minced garlic, dried thyme, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until it’s browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
Mix in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth, bringing to a simmer. Allow to cook down for 5-6 minutes.
Toast the hamburger buns lightly. Spoon the beef and onion mixture onto the bottom halves of the buns. Top with shredded cheese and broil for 2-3 minutes if desired.
Place the top halves of the buns on the Sloppy Joes, serve immediately.
